\u201cStrengthening the Governance of Disaster Risk Management in Central America\u201d<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Central America is one of the regions most affected by natural phenomena. Despite being a relatively insignificant region in terms of global greenhouse gas emissions and climate change, the impact generated in this region is catastrophic, primarily affecting infrastructure and agricultural production, which is a fundamental basis of the economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Coordination Center for Disaster Prevention in Central America and the Dominican Republic (CEPREDENAC), with the objective of \u201cContributing to the reduction of vulnerability and the impact of disasters,\u201d together with the Central American Higher University Council (CSUCA), with the mission and vision of consolidating a Central American University System that impacts the integration and full development of the Central American people, become the key actors to execute the project \u201cStrengthening the Governance of Disaster Risk Management in Central America\u201d with the technical and financial support of the Swiss Cooperation in Central America (SDC).<\/span><\/p>\n

The project in its three effects: <\/span><\/p>\n

Effect 1<\/b><\/span>
<\/span><\/p>

The regional system and the national Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) systems implement disaster risk reduction actions and seek an effective and timely response to people affected by disasters with the active participation of the private sector and universities.<\/span>\n<\/p>

Regional and national bodies have strengthened their governance mechanisms for DRR in line with the Sendai Framework.<\/span><\/p>\n

University professionals in the region have improved their skills in DRR and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), contributing to resilient development in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fulfillment of effect 03 corresponds to the Central American Higher University Council -CSCUCA- through 5 Curriculum Readjustment projects and 4 Higher Education Quality Accreditation projects. <\/span><\/p>\n
