The Comunica Network emerged in August 2015 at the First Workshop of Central American University Media held in Guatemala City, as part of the actions of the PRIDCA project, with financial support from the Swiss Cooperation in Central America.

With the mission of coordinating the communication departments and different media outlets of the CSUCA member universities to promote the dissemination of the teaching, research, outreach, social action, internationalization and management activities of the higher education institutions in the region.

And with the vision of becoming a cross-cutting system of the CSUCA that serves as support to the different systems, integration programs and strengthening of higher education in the societies of Central America and the Caribbean.

In 2021, through the IX Central American University Congress, the creation of the Regional Information and Communication System -SIREICU- was consolidated, and one of its objectives is Maintain the COMUNICA Network platform as the official means of communication for the system.
