Innovating in a simple and fruitful way arises with the purpose of promoting the dissemination and implementation of a transformative didactics in Central American universities, to support innovation and harmonization of higher education in the region.
With the purpose of establishing an ecosystem where didactic innovation flourishes and is linked to research ideas, contributions to society and internationalization, respecting the work context of teachers who often arrive with a high workload and/or few resources.
The spirit of our network is to support each other with ideas across the boundaries of disciplines, universities or countries, to offer good practices and to give impetus for an open and inspiring system of higher education.
-RISYF- emerged after a series of virtual activities. On November 7th and 8th, 2022, a hybrid workshop (in-person and virtual) was held at the University of Costa Rica, allowing a group of teachers from various CSUCA member universities to present pilot project proposals which demonstrated:
- What does the proposed innovation consist of?,
- the partners (in case more than one person works on the pilot project);
- the motivation/objective of this innovation;
- its connection with the MCESCA (the explanation of how innovation is expressed as a result of student learning in the context of the MCESCA);
- initial ideas on how to disseminate this innovation, given that 'stakeholders',
- and how the innovation for this will be documented.
Accompanied by some of the participants with previous experience and a willingness to mentor or tutor other colleagues.
On October 23 and 24, 2023, a second workshop was held at the University of Panama, where teachers were able to share the results obtained after presenting an innovative course.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
To promote innovation in teaching and learning in the classroom by sharing the innovative experiences of teachers and students from Central American universities.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Identifying the before and after in learning a course with innovative teaching methods.
- Demonstrate the student growth that teachers have identified in the development of an innovative project, implemented within the teaching of a course.
- Call for the implementation of qualification frameworks in the university teaching classroom.
- To recruit new teachers to implement innovative actions in the development of their courses.
