The Central American University-Society Relations System (SICAUS) is a Regional University System of the Central American University Confederation, of an academic and technical nature that interacts closely with the different sectors of society and the State, contributing to the processes of integration and regional development in a sustainable way, through the different linkage activities that society requires and that the member universities of the Confederation consider pertinent.
- To promote spaces for dialogue that generate academic capacity to propose solutions to the main existing regional problems from a scientific, technical, environmental, social, cultural, economic and political perspective.
- To promote the continuous improvement of technology transfer and service provision units in universities, in order to strengthen the link with the different sectors of society and the State.
- Promote mechanisms for contact, communication, linking, management, protection and transfer of knowledge generated in universities, as a response to the demands of the regional productive sector.
- Strengthen the professional profile of those responsible for the process of linking with the productive sector and the State in the member universities of the Confederation.
- Implement inter-institutional cooperation mechanisms at the national, regional and extra-regional levels to support the actions derived from the System.
SICAUS is comprised of the System's Regional Assembly and the Governing Council. The System's Regional Assembly consists of the official from each member university of the Confederation responsible for Extension, Service Provision, and/or Technology Transfer, or a representative delegated by the Rector. The Governing Council is the system's executive body, composed of four members representing universities from four different countries, elected at the regional assembly, plus the System Coordinator.
