MIAF System in El Salvador

June 19, 2025

To conclude the Fruit Growing course, rice and sorghum were planted in the MIAF system located in Persian Lime, as well as soybean planting in the MIAF plot of jocote, all within the framework of the 7-GT/UES project.

Sorghum was planted using a relay cropping system (corn/sorghum), with a local photoperiod variety. Although this variety initially shows slight shade from the corn, it fully benefits from the main crop's bending stage, a time when it develops vigorously and absorbs residual nutrients from the corn fertilization.

These plots will serve as technological demonstration showcases, through which farmers in the area of influence of the Experimental and Practice Station will be trained, promoting the adoption of sustainable and contextualized agroecological practices.
