SIREICU hold informative assembly

Today, an informative assembly was held by the Presidency and General Secretariat of the CSUCA, together with the Sistema de Información y Comunicación Universitaria -SIREICU- in order to publicize the unanimous approval of the regulation by the Consejo Superior Universitario Centroamericano in its CXVII Ordinary Session.

The activity began with words from the MSc. Ramona Rodríguez, President of CSUCA, who congratulated the members of SIREICU for having managed to form the system, as well as motivated the representatives to carry out collaborative work, in favor of making visible the work of the universities.

For his part, the MSc. Carlos Alvarado Cerezo, Secretary General of CSUCA, indicated that the SIREICU arises from the need to provide support in a transversal manner to the existing systems, in order to promote the dissemination of the work carried out by the Central American University Confederation. Learn about the creation of a new communication medium called Radio Comunica, which has been promoted through financing from the Swiss Cooperation in Central America, with the purpose of bringing information generated from the study houses, through a digital radio.

Likewise, the MSc. María José Aburto, in her capacity as President of SIREICU, thanked for the support received, as well as expressed the work mechanism that has been planned with the members of SIREICU, at the same time, she announced to the members that make up the Board of Directors , with the representation of one member per country.

And the MSc. Armando Sarmiento, Secretary General of SIREICU, highlighted the commitment that exists from the members that make up the system, starting from the fact that for many members it is a dream that has come true since the proposal put forward in 2015, which was consolidated in the creation of the Network Communicate.

Presentation of advance results

With the purpose of publicizing the development of the project "Strengthening Science and Innovation Policy Capacities in SICA member countries", a session was held today to present progress and results, generating an exchange of knowledge regarding the regional scientific collaboration that has been carried out in the last year.

The different projects that have been promoted strengthen the generation of research on topics such as environmental management, technologies, innovation, health, university extension, among others, presenting alternative proposals for the development of the Central American region, fulfilling the purposes and objectives proposed in the Plan for the Regional Integration of Higher Education in Central America and the Dominican Republic -PIRESC V-.

 

Link LA Reference and CSUCA

In order to find common objectives in Open Science, a meeting was held jointly with LA Referencia.

The Network of repositories of open access to science, gives visibility to the scientific production of higher education and research institutions in Latin America, promotes Free and Open Access to the full text.

With the aim of meeting the goals proposed in the Plan para la Integración Regional de la Educación Superior de Centroamérica y República Dominicana -PIRESC V-, CSUCA seeks to strengthen regional repositories, as well as raise awareness and train the Central American university community in the opening of scientific research.

Therefore, it is expected to be able to work on common projects for the scientific development of the region.
