Feedback workshop for pre-selection of projects

Today the feedback workshop was held for the pre-selected proposals within the framework of the regional project ?Strengthening inclusive science and innovation systems in Latin America through a collaborative research network? coordinated by the Central American Higher University Council -CSUCA-, with the support of  the Commission for the Scientific and Technological Development of Central America and Panama -CTCAP- and the General Secretariat of the Central American Integration System -SG SICA-, with financial support from the International Development Research Center -IDRC- of Canada.

In February 2023, the public call for the presentation of project proposals was enabled with the purpose of strengthening the innovation-inclusion nexus in the Central American region, in its two complementary aspects: Innovation for inclusion when the focus is the results of the process; and inclusive innovation when it refers to a participatory process through which innovation emerges.

In response to the call, 73 proposals were received, of which, after a thorough evaluation, 26 were pre-selected, of which 15 project proposals will be chosen that will last 22 months, which  They must be under the approach of four thematic axes:

·         Territoriality, risk and local development,

·         Economic growth, productivity, competitiveness and sustainable development,

·         Digital transformation, automation, artificial intelligence and

·         Data science, and climate change and environmental management.

It should be noted that the development of the workshop had the participation of Carlos Aguirre, general coordinator, who made a presentation on the bases on which the regional project is developed, as well as Kemly Camacho, gender consultant, in order to expand information on the bases that are needed in the theme for the development of the proposals. Finally, there was a space to address the questions and answers that have arisen from the different designers.

Inauguration of the JUDUCA 2023

El Salvador City, July 11, 2023

 

After a day of games, the University of El Salvador inaugurated the VIII Central American University Sports Games -JUDUCA-, which take place in El Salvador City from July 11 to 15 of this year.


The inaugural act included the participation of one thousand six hundred athletes from different branches such as soccer, futsal, volleyball, basketball, karate, taekwondo, athletics, chess, among others. Being representatives of the different universities that make up the Central American Higher University Council, together with authorities, teams from the different universities represented and Salvadoran artists who performed at the ceremony.

 

To kick off the event, Roger Arias, rector of the University of El Salvador -UES-, mentioned ?This ability to generate integral professionals for our societies who not only operate with great leadership in the labor field, but are also professionals talent in sports, art, and culture?, emphasizing that integrity is what should characterize Central Americans.

While Carlos Alvarado Cerezo, Secretary General of CSUCA, reflected that universities are generators of universal knowledge, built collectively ?and our functionality in life in society is directly linked to the treaty of that knowledge for an adequate social and peaceful coexistence? .



For his part, Juan Rosa Quintanilla, UES Administrative Vice Chancellor, expressed his excitement at seeing the energy of the Central American athletes. In addition, he recalled his experience as a university student in which he highlighted values such as friendship, solidarity and fraternity among the Central American countries.

The event was also attended by Yamil Bukele, president of the National Sports Institute, who highlighted the energy and enthusiasm of student athletes, for which he invited them to enjoy their stay at the UES and in the sports venues where the competitions take place.
